This fine example of Ait Zaiane workmanship was woven in Morocco's Middle Atlas Mountains. The women weavers of this tribe are among the most skilled, using high quality wool, cotton and vegetable silk to create their remarkable flatware kilims or hanbels that incorporate many life elements of the Berber culture. Moroccan tribal weavers are known for preparing dyes from locally gathered vegetable and mineral sources - Red from madder root, yellow from saffron and almond leaves.Tea, henna and other indigenous plants are often used for earth tones. This exquisite runner is a subtle yet sophisticated accent piece balancing a room saturated with vibrant hints of color.
